Vlada's Blog about Russia

My country is Russia. It is located in Asia and Europe. Russia was a very fun country to study. I learned a lot more than I thought I would. Russia is the biggest country in the world and includes many traditions with food and holidays to traditions of dance and music. The Government in Russia is strong. Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, took over being president and I think that he is being very unfair and not letting anyone else be president. The laws are very important. The first one is that the drinking age is 18 years old. 18 year olds are still teenagers and I think that they aren’t mature enough to drink. They need to be safe and cautious when drinking at that age and should know what they are doing. There are many different types of religions, the Russian Orthodox Church religion is most of the people's religion in Russia. They have many holidays that they celebrate. I think that Russia should have more synagogues because there are Jews that left Russia because they couldn’t study there religion and be able to go to synagogues but if they had a place to study then there would be a bigger population of Jews and just more people in Russia.
There are many traditional foods in Russia. I think that they taste good and I agree that many Russians do use sour cream on a lot of their food. Russians do drink the same drinks as Americans. Schools in Russia learn the same stuff as kids in America only in Russia, kids only go to school for 9 years. I think that they cram in all of the stuff that they learn and learn stuff very quick which I think is not a good idea because the kids might not understand everything which won’t be good in the future.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your blog! The drinking age in Mexico is 18 years old as well. Kids in Mexico also go to school for 9 years and those nine years are free. Mexico also has a president that is in charge of the country. We have quite a few similarities between our countries.

  2. It was very interesting to learn about Russia. Its government is very different to France's because the president in France serves two terms and each term is five years. I also liked learning about the children in school how they only go to school for nine years. You did really great.

  5. I think that you had a tons of good information for just the few things you said. Another thing was that I did not know that Vladimir Putin has basically taken over the presidency. I was very surprised that Russia did not have many Jewish people because I didn't know about the whole Soviet Union thing

  6. My country is the United Kingdom, and we have a monarchy. Yours is a Federal Republic Government. Also, the kids in Russia and United Kingdom learn the same stuff in school, too. The drinking age in the U.K is 18 also. They can drink younger with it being legal if they get their parents permission; but they have to be there. I agree with you that 18 is too young. I think 21 is a good age. I liked your presentation!

  7. It was very cool to learn about Russia! I agree that it is crazy that people start drinking at 18. Australians go to school for 12 years and don't cram it all in to the 9 years. The government is very different because Australia their are no terms. Vlada I thing you did a great job!

  8. It was very interesting to learn so much about Russia. Unlike in Russia, kids in China have the opportunity to go to school for over 10 years. China also has president, like Vladimir Putin, but he doesn't have full control over the entire country. There is also a very small amount of Jews in China too. Russia was a really cool country to learn about, your presentation was really good.

  9. I thought that your presentation on Russia was very interesting. In my country, Peru, the main religion is Roman Catholic. The orthodox church is similar to Catholic. The minimum drinking age in Peru is also 18. I agree that the drinking age starting at 18 is too low and should start at 21.

    1. I thought that Russia was a very cool country. I thought that it was cool that Vladimir Putin has pretty much been in power since 2000. I also thought it was interesting that there were very little religious schools because of the soviet union. I thought Russia was a very interesting country to learn about.

  10. I liked your blog, along with your presentation. They had a lot of good info. One similarity between my country(the UAE) and yours, is that they are both in Asia. That's about it. I hope to learn more about Russia.

  12. I really enjoyed your blog on Russia. I did not know that in Russia, people only have to go to school for nine years before they go to college. In the country that I researched, which is Ecuador, they have to go to school for eleven years until they go to college.

  13. I enjoyed your presentation on Russia. I learned that Russia and Israel are almost complete opposites. For example Russia is a giant country while Israel is relatively small. However they both have things in common. For example they both have free education.

  15. I liked your presentation on Russia. You knew a lot about Russia. I thought it was interesting that Putin could do that thing where he is always in off, I think they should get rid of that law.

  22. I really enjoy reading your blog and learned a lot that I didn't know about russia. From your blog I also agree that 18 is too low an age for drinking. I am very disappointed about this law and i have found out that a lot of countries have the same law like mine which is Ireland
