The Marvelous Peru

The Marvelous Peru

Peru is located in South America and borders Ecuador, Chile, Brazil, Bolivia, and Columbia.

It was fun and interesting to study the country of Peru. I have learned so much from the time I started researching. Before this year, I only knew a couple simple facts about Peru, and now I know specific information on different topics including Peru’s government, economy, history, religion, daily life, arts, geography/climate, and language. Like for example, under the topic of government, I learned about the Presidency and Vice Presidency. There is one space for a President and there are two spaces for Vice Presidents. In my opinion, it is a good idea that there could be two Vice Presidents so that they can help make decisions and the Vice Presidents can work together. I also think that the President and Vice Presidents have the right amount of power.
Peru's location on the coast is very beneficial to their economy because one of their big exports is fish and fish meal. I think that if Peru was located anywhere else, then their economy and food would be much different. A lot of their daily meals contain fish and if they weren't on the coast, then their meals would be different. Since Peru is the largest producer of fish meal in the world, they would lose a lot of money if they weren't on the coast.
Kids in Peru are supposed attend school from elementary school to high school, but many kids are unable to go to school that long which I believe may hurt their future. The kids that stay in school all the way through are probably more successful because they can go to a university. Also in many schools in Peru, children are required to wear a uniform. To me, this is both a good thing and a bad thing. If kids have to wear a uniform to school then society can't judge their style, but it is also a bad thing because then the kids are unable to express their personality in school. It depends on what one's point of view is on if it is good or bad decision.

I also learned about the Spanish conquest, and I think that without this event, Peru wouldn’t be the way it is today. Before the Spaniards took over, the Inca civilization (natives to Peru) were the leaders of Peru. The Spanish helped shape things like the languages spoken and the religions in Peru. I feel like a very important historical place in Peru is Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu was probably an Inca royal estate. A while after it was built, the Incas kind of disappeared and there have been different theories on why the left. I believe it’s because the Spaniards invaded them and eliminated the Incas living there. I think that when the Spaniards realized that Peru had many treasures, and found an Inca royal estate, they took everything from them.  I have loved learning all the things I did about Peru and am hope to learn more.

  4. Amazing job Rachael. I thought it was really cool that the Inca's build machu picchu! It's so beautiful. My country unfortunetly does not have a ancient landmark like that. Also I also thought the government was very different from The Netherland. My country has a prime minister ruling and a queen.
