I studied the northeast Asian countries in Korea and that's what my blog is going to talk about. Korea is divided into North Korea and South Korea. I will post opinions and facts about the government, economy, history and other aspects of both these countries.
South Korea is one of the leaders in the world in gender equality. The most obvious example is the fact that the President is a woman. I believe this is a large step forward in the world's gender equality movement. North Korea on the other hand is very gender divided. There are woman in the government and military but it is mostly controlled by men.
South Korea's economy is exemplified by their busy always moving and growing factories. They have one of the largest and most successful economies. After they were liberated at the end of world war 2 their economy grew very rapidly. They are now one of the world's biggest exporters and ship goods all over the world. North Korea has not done as well as their neighbors, as they are failing at producing enough goods and food for their population and economy. The population in North Korea is dying due to hunger and starvation as a result. Although greater trade and interaction with other countries could help, the dictator will not allow this. In my opinion, the dictator is cruel to make his people suffer just because he can’t accept help from other countries.
A significant part of history for both sides of Korea was the Korean War. On June 25, 1950 North Korea passed the 38th parallel and invaded South Korea. Although hesitant, the U.S. and the U.N. backed the South Koreans. On the other hand, the U.S.S.R. and China joined the fight but chose to help North Korea. After nearly one million deaths on both sides, a ceasefire ended the 3 year war. My opinion on the war is that we were right to help our allies at that time. However, it's been a long period of time since the war and by now the U.S.A. and North Korea’s relations should have improved. Both sides have made little effort.
I have have enjoyed my time learning about the Korean peninsula. I hope to write more about these fascinating countries.Kim Jhong Korea
Nathan,

Wonderful job!
It was nice to learn about Korea, both North and South. I was really surprised when I learned that they fight over the meeting rooms. In Brazil they don't fight over much stuff.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed learning about both North and South Korea. Much like North Korea, China is a communist country. And much like South Korea China exports a lot of things like electronic devices, textiles, foods, clothing, and much, much more. I really liked the presentation.
ReplyDeleteYour presentation and blog were both very good. I liked how you talked about both North and South Korea. Your economy and government were both very interesting I liked when you talked about leaders. The part of your presentation when you talked about the border of the North and South Korea.
ReplyDeleteYour presentation was amazing! I liked how you explained the history In a very cool way. I liked learning about the boundries and what's going on in North Korea. My country is not a communist country. Also is not at war with another country.
ReplyDeleteI learned a lot about the Koreas from your presentation. I had no idea that South Korea was a democracy. I also didn't know that there was no peace treaty between the two countries. This is similar to Israel because many of the countries bordering it, does not have a treaty either. However, Israel is still getting attacked unlike the Koreas. Overall you had a great presentation.

ReplyDeleteYour presentation was very interesting. I found that there are a couple similarities between korea and my country, Peru. First of all, the president of South Korea has a 5 year term and so does Peru, but Peru's president can serve again. Another thing I noticed was that South Korea exports a lot of fish. Peru is also a large producer of fish.
ReplyDeleteI think that it was very good. You knew A LOT about your country. My country (U.K) and yours are very different. We have a Queen and King and a Prime Minster, and you have a chairman. I really liked your presentation!
ReplyDeleteI liked that your country was different because it has communism, and also the privacy in your country. Your blog is set up well, and the UAE and South Korea both have huge export values!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! Your country was very cool to learn about. You had tons of unique information that know one knew. Australia is way different then North and South Korea. In Australia their are not that many mountains and hills. Great Job!

North Korea and South Korea have many differences.

I thought it was really interesting that China still helps North Korea even though North Korea and Kim Jong Un are crazy.
