Guatemala Blog

Guatemala is the country I have been researching. Guatemala is in Central America It borders Mexico, Belize, El Salvador and Honduras. Researching Guatemala was very interesting country to research. More than half of the country is in poverty and most of the workers in Guatemala are in agriculture. This is good because they were a dictatorship and their economy is getting better. Guatemala has a large list of exports, this is good because they have great agriculture and they are able to use the resources they have. The government is democratic, The president is Alejandro Maldonado. They have a congress with 158 seats. Both the president and legislators are elected for 4 years. The school system is kind of like The american school system, which is good because with good school they will have a better future. In the city a lot of people have cell phone, but in rural areas they Usually get news from television or radio. This is good because people can communicate with other people easily.

  1. When did Guatemala change to a democracy? Why do you think that might be leading to economic growth? I think it's interesting that you chose this country and hope you give lots of details in your presentation about the changes in Guatemala!

  3. I liked your presentation and blog. Unlike yours, my Prime Minister is elected every 5 years, and my Queen and King are are for life, and your President is only elected for 4 years.

  4. Your blog and presentation were really good. I thought it was really weird that they have three different types of schools. I also thought that it was cool that over half their country is in poverty just like how Nepal is extremely poor.

  5. I think that you did really well and it is cool that you chose a country that not many people know about. I think that it is very weird that in Guatemala people have cell phones but they don't have cars.

  6. Your presentation was really interesting. I thought it was different that if you are in the military, you can't vote. I also saw that a lot of kids who start school don't go all the way through, and that's the same in Peru. Many kids have to help their families.

  7. Your blog and Pinterest board was really interesting and had lots of information. I think it's so weird how people who live in the city have cellphones but they don't have cars. In Austria almost everybody has the luxury of having phones and cars.

  8. I liked your pinterest board and blog and I think it was really cool that you picked Guatemala to research in your country because not a lot of people know about about it. Your Country is very different from my country. Russia is big and Guatemala is small. Many people are poor and don't have cars and not a lot of people where in my country it has some poor people but many very wealthy people and most people have phones. Overall, great job and you really knew your stuff.

  9. You did a good job with your presentation and blog. I learned that just like Israel, Guatemala is a democracy. However, in terms of economy Guatemala is struggling more.
