Evelyn’s India Blog
India is in Asia. In India there are many religion like here in the U.S. One of the main religions is Hinduism and there are many gods not just one. This reminds me of Percy Jackson and the Greek gods because each is something different, In Hindu one of their main gods are Annapurna, she is the god of food. In Greek the god of food Demeter. They are alike so it made me think of that and relate to that along the way. I also found out that both Greek gods and Hindu gods have picture and status of them in places.
When I was looking at the government in India there are many similarities as to U.S government. They have a president just like use. In India though they have a prime minister. In India there is this place called the Taj Mahal, it’s this great big palace that was made by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz. It was a tomb for her when she died. I think this is strange because it’s so big and tall. Most tombs here are grave stones or for important people like presidents statues. Here is a picture.
I also think it’s strange that he was going to make one for himself, because it’s like building a place for him to die.
In India they have arranged marriages unlike here in the U.S. They have arraignment ceremonies where the parents pick a date for the wedding and then the two people get to know each other. This surprised me because they plan a wedding before the two people get to know each other, I feel like they should get to know each other before they plan a wedding. In the U.S they date for months before the guy asks the girl to marry him which I like is better than in India but not the best because it what if the girl is ready and wants to ask the guy.

I really enjoyed listing to you presentation. France have a different government, but you can consider the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal the same. you were great
ReplyDeleteYour blog was very Interesting. I had no clue that India had so many weird but awesome things about it. I really liked your presentation as well.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on your pinterest. I learned a lot. I never knew that you had arranged marriages in India. One way that our countries are different is that India mostly celebrates Hinduism and Australia mostly celebrates Catholicism.
ReplyDeletegreat job on your blog. I learned a lot and I am very interested in the Taj Mahal and the artwork that was put into it
ReplyDeleteI liked your blog, along with your presentation. India is really cool to learn about, and my country and yours have a similarity because they are both located in Asia. I thought it was interesting about henna and the Taj Mahal.
ReplyDeleteI found it very cool that the king built that huge palace that was a toob just for the queen, I was very surprised to here that his own son kicked him out of the the palace. Overall I think that your project were very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI thought that your blog was extremely interesting. I thought it was really weird that there are really poor people's houses extremely close to people that are filthy rich. I also thought that it was cool that they have a big white marble palace called the taj mahal.
ReplyDeleteI learned many things from your blog and presentation. For example the amount of people in poverty is terrible. Poverty is also a large problem in Israel. A second example is that I had no idea the story of the Taj Mahal. Overall great job.
ReplyDeleteI liked your blog and pinterst! My country is very different from yours. My country is not in poverty and my country's main religion is Monotheistic.
ReplyDeleteEvelyn,
ReplyDeleteYour blog, pictures, and captions were amazing. You really knew so much about India and it was so interesting to hear the students' interest in the country you presented. You really captivated us all! I also liked the information regarding arranged marriages, and your ability to compare that with the lifestyles of us in the US! Well done!
