All About Ecuador
By: Seth P.
My country that I researched is Ecuador. I learned About Ecuador’s government, economy, arts, religion, geography, daily life, and history. Ecuador is a small country located on the upper west coast of South America. It borders Colombia, Peru, and Costa Rica. The capital of Ecuador is Quito. Quito is located on the upper west side of Ecuador. Ecuador has a democratic government. This means that they have a president and a vice president, just like here in the U.S. Their president and head of government is Rafael Correa. Their vice president is George Glas. Also like here, The president and vice president both run four year terms and can run for a second term. In my opinion though, I don’t think that Ecuador’s government is working because a lot of people in Ecuador are poor.
In fact, in 2008, twenty five percent of people in Ecuador were unemployed. Of the seventy five percent of people that are employed, over a quarter of them are employed in agriculture. The biggest export that Ecuador has are bananas. However, that isn’t their only export. Other exports that they have are coffee, cocoa, shrimp, and fish. Ecuador’s currency is the same as the U.S. currency ever since 2000. Before that it was the sucre.
Overall I would say that I learned a lot of interesting facts about Ecuador and I can’t wait to learn more.

Hi Seth,
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that Ecuador exported all of the goods that you mentioned. Do they import anything? Keep up the great work!
Mrs.Paul
I have always wanted to travel to the Galapagos! I am so glad you highlighted them, especially since they will not be open forever to those who want to visit. I also think your comparisons to the US really helped everyone understand the government in particular of Ecuador! Well done!
ReplyDeleteYour blog was really good. You had a lot of great information and when you presented you were able to answer the questions and you explained everything very well. Nice job!!
ReplyDeleteIt was very interesting to learn about your country. You shared some great information. It was very interesting to learn about galapagos islands. Great job
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed learning about Ecuador. I never knew that the Galapagos was part of Ecuador. China has the Great Wall and other attractions. Great presentation.
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog. Ecuador has an important tourist attraction which is the Galapagos, Guatemala also has a tourist attraction, Tikal which is very important to their economy. Also Guatemala and Ecuador are both near the equator.
ReplyDeleteYou did a really good job on your presentation and on your blog! Mexico is also a democracy as well. The President in Mexico is also the head of the government, but he is also head of the state as well. You had very good information! Good job!
ReplyDeleteYour blog and Pinterest were amazing, I didn't even know about Galapagos. In Brazil the most popular tourist spot is Christ the Redeemer.
ReplyDeleteI liked learning about Ecuador today. I found some similarities between Ecuador and Peru. First of all, Peru and Ecuador border each other. Also, both Ecuador's and Peru's presidents serve are the head of government and the chief of state.
ReplyDeleteNice job! My country is very different from your country. My country does not have a president, but it does have a prime minister. Also The Netherlands isn't nearly as hot as Ecuador.
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job presenting. I thought that you knew a lot about your country! I would really like to visit the Galapagos one day, and you made it so I want to go there today! My country has a Queen, King and a Prime Minister, and yours has a President and Vice President. Good job though!
ReplyDeleteI think that you did a great job! I thought you gave a lot of information on the Galapagos Islands and really wanted to make me want to go their. One difference between Ecuador and Australia is that Australia has a Prime Minister and Ecuador has a President and Vice President. Great Job!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on your blog and presentation. Something different between Austria and Ecuador is that the unemployment rate in Austria is really low and in Ecuador there unemployment is 25% of all there employees.

ReplyDeleteSeth, you did a great job presenting. I learned a lot about Ecuador. I thought that the galapagos islands were very interesting. I also thought it was very cool that they are protecting the islands. Over all I thought Ecuador was an extremely interesting country.
ReplyDeleteYour blog and presentation were both very interesting. I did not know Ecuador was a democracy similar to Israel. However Ecuador has a president and V.P. Israel only has a prime minister. Overall I wished your blog was a little bit longer but other than that you did great.
ReplyDeleteYour blog and presentation was awesome. In my country they also focus on agriculture but because they are on the water they also export fish and sea life. My country (India) also has a democracy but unlike your country it has a prime minister and a president. After you talked about the galapagos I really want to visit there sometime. It sad that they will have to close it but I think it will be for the best because then the animals can live long. In science we are learning how people pollute the oceans and some of it is as simple as using sunscreen and we don't want to do that to the galapagos. You did great!
