North Korea vs Sudan

Now that we have studied two very different countries but with similarities concerning human right violations, I want you to connect the experiences the Lost Boys had in Sudan to the current state of North Korea.

  1. There was a really high chance of dying from many different things like crocodiles. Many of the Lost Boys died, and some stayed strong and got through the harsh times. There wasn't anyone watching the Lost Boy's every move and controlled what the heard. The lost boys didn't have homes unlike some people in North Korea. Also the Lost Boys didn't know how to use technology and they learned from stories.

  2. The people of Sudan had a chance to flee with a chance of being killed, while North Koreans, if they try to leave they will be killed with a few exceptions. They are similar because they both have people they want to leave, but sometimes can't. They can get captured, beat, or even killed if they do something that is a little thing wrong on accident.

  3. These two countries are alike because both people countries people sometimes want to leave which shows that they are not happy with their country. Also they are alike because they both do not have the access to the whole world like the United States does. Lastly they are also alike because they both are always scared of dying and starving to death.

  4. In Sudan, they did not have modern technology, so their military and border patrol aren't that strong. In North Korea, they are a more modern country than a third world african country, so they are isolated from the normal world and have strong border patrol. they are similar because of the crisis and people escaping. they have had people who escaped and share their story. They have mostly the same problem, but have different solutions.

  5. Both the lost boys and the citizens of North Korea have had some pretty similar experiences. In both places, it was very hard for the citizens to survive. The lost boys had little to no food, and they lived under terrible conditions that many people died of. In North Korea, the citizens do not have very much food and it can be very tough to survive at times. Also neither of them had any connection to the outside world whatsoever.

  6. The events experienced by the Lost Boy can be similar to the state of North Korean Citizens. One similarity is found in technology. The super-majority of North Korean citizens have very little technology if any. Also, the technology that they do have is extremely old. The same is true for the lost boys before they fled South Sudan. Another similarity is the very poor life expectancy. In South Sudan the life expectancy is 56 years on average. North Korea is not much better with a life expectancy of 69 years on average. This shows the negative reality that both the lost boys and North Korean citizens have/had to deal with.

  7. There are many connections between North Korea and Sudan. One connection is that they are living in poverty. Both have barely enough food, money, and are living in poverty starving to death and having many diseases. Another connection is that both of them had wars where they had to fight through and it is really hard for everyone. Something else is that people have little to no technology. Both places have people and citizens where they are fighting through challenges and helping each other out.

  8. The Lost Boys of Sudan went through a lot and it connects to the people living in North Korea because their both very isolated from the outside world and they don’t know what life is like outside of their country/state. They both are facing a hard life that they barely have enough resources to live off of. Both of them are in a less technology advanced country.

  9. North Korea and South Sudan are both very poor and destroyed countries. North Korea is poor because they don't care about their country and only care about destroying their enemies and gaining power. South Sudan was destroyed by being invaded by other people and forcing refugees to flee. In conclusion these countries are both very similar in where they are at, both poor and corrupt.

  10. I think that NK and Sudan civilians are the same because they are both starving and in pain all of the time. Also the leaders are the same also because they are in dictation on what they are going to do. Overall these countries are very common on how everything operates and how it is unfair .

  11. Well it is not that the lost boys did not know that they were being ruled by a dictator, their government was getting overthrown. However the people in NK have little to no clue what life is like outside of NK.

  13. These countries share similarities in violation of human rights. Both the Lost Boys and the Citizens of North Korea fear the government. The Lost Boys were running from a government army of another country, and North Koreans fear their own government. They also live in constant fear, the Lost boys could turn a corner and not know what was waiting for them, and North Korean citizens can only do what their government wants them too and if they disobey death can be the punishment.

  14. Both the lost boys and a large amount of North Korea's population suffer or suffered from malnutrition. The lost boys had no food, no water and no shelter, but they could not control other people attacked their villages. In North Korea some people have barely any food or water because they don't have enough money and most of the time this is not their fault. They had to take a very low paying job because it was the only job available. Also the lost boys and people of NK are scared of being hurt or being killed everyday. Lost Boys Died everyday because of other tribes attacking, animals and not having enough food and water. People in NK die or get injured every day because they broke the law or are sent to camps for a something that does not make sense.

  15. The Lost Boys and Lost Girls suffered from malnutrition while on their journey. Many of them died from starvation. Like some in North Korea, they also died of starvation. Like how Joseph Kim said in the interview thing that he did, he said that his father died of starvation in North Korea, but he shared all his food with me. Just like how the Lost Boys and Girls starved, they still got equal amounts of food and sometimes sacrificed themselves and their own food to give to someone else to keep them alive.

  16. Both the lost boys and lost girls, along with people living in North Korea, suffer from malnutrition or died from it. Neither of them had any technology like phones, computers, etc. to see what was happening outside of their country. For both of them, it was hard to escape what was happening. For the lost boys and girls, there were soldiers surrounding them and looking for them. If people wanted to escape North Korea, they had to hide from soldiers, and go through barbed and electric fences without them dying. For Joseph Kim, the person he was trying to escape with, had died from the fence.

  17. A similarity between the current state of North Korea and the Lost Boys/Girls of Sudan is that both groups suffered or are suffering. In North Korea, many people, including children, suffer from malnutrition and lack of other resources. They don't have enough to eat, therefore they are much smaller than those in South Korea. They also don't have access to communication devices or internet. The Lost Boys and Girls went through similar struggles. The Lost Boys/Girls had little to no food during their journey, and many died from dehydration and starvation. They also didn't have much communication except for the UN later in most of their journies.

  18. Both of the country's had somebody wanted to take over the country. Also, all the people were very scared and want to escape. If they try to flee they can die. They have to live through super harsh conditions and go through really bad stuff to get to safety.

  20. In Sudan the Lost Boys had to escape a terrible tradgey. The government took over the south and all of the boys were forced to evacuate. This compares to North Korea because both governments took complete control of their countries. In Sudan there was mass genocide which means they have no rights and in North Korea the people have no rights.
